Heena Lakhdhir

About Heena

Heena is an obstetrician gynaecologist with a special interest in high-risk obstetrics including preterm birth and diabetes in pregnancy. She works at Te Whatu Ora, Counties Manukau at Middlemore Hospital. Heena is originally from West of India and grew up in Mumbai and trained as an obstetrician before migrating to New Zealand and retraining here.  She has a special interest in migrant and South Asian health.  Perinatal outcomes in Indian women are her area of research. She is a passionate advocate for equitable care for vulnerable women and women from the diverse communities on South Auckland. Heena is passionate about respectful care for women in bigger bodies or those facing discrimination in the health system. She’s a mum and wife and loves dancing and has recently started enjoying going on bike rides.

Steering Group

 

The Carosika Collaborative Steering Group is a transdisciplinary group of individuals passionate about preterm birth and achieving equity. The Group was established in 2020 and membership is by invitation aiming for inclusion of whānau and all other key stakeholder groups. The Steering Group provides direction, oversight, coordination and support to Carosika Collaborative initiatives and has been responsible for developing the Carosika Collaborative five-year Strategic Kete.
