Kasey Tawhara

Kasey (Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngāti Porou, Te Rarawa, Te Arawa, Ngāti Ruanui) is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She is a māmā of two and a nationally respected Māori health leader. Based in Rotorua and serving as Kaihautū of Te Ohu Rata o Aotearoa (Te ORA), she champions Māori-led healthcare and system change grounded in whakapapa, manaakitanga, and equity. Her work spans clinical education, and governance. She is a founding member of He Hono Wāhine – RANZCOG and an active contributor to kaupapa aimed at increasing cultural safety and reducing health inequities across medical education and practice. Her voice is courageous and clear in calling for health systems that reflect te reo Māori, tikanga and tino rangatiratanga. 

Steering Group

 

The Carosika Collaborative Steering Group is a transdisciplinary group of individuals passionate about preterm birth and achieving equity. The Group was established in 2020 and membership is by invitation aiming for inclusion of whānau and all other key stakeholder groups. The Steering Group provides direction, oversight, coordination and support to Carosika Collaborative initiatives and has been responsible for developing the Carosika Collaborative five-year Strategic Kete.
